Ann Waterlow

“I feel that what I am doing is making a difference.”

Speaking about her experience, Ann said: “It’s the most wonderful, fulfilling, relationship and all built on a patient’s needs. You meet a total stranger and after a few weeks you really get to know them. For the time I am with them they are the most important person in the room and to make them happy is so rewarding. I’ve been involved in a pilot project to support patients in nursing homes. One patient would just stay in their room but over time they have been coming down for meals and taking part in activities. It means a great deal to see that they are enjoying themselves much more now. I feel that what I am doing is making a difference.”
