Our Lifestyle Change Programme and its Benefits

Louis Breese, Community & Events Fundraising Manager, writes about how our 2021 Virtual Pounds for Pounds programme can help you to make a positive start to the new year.

“We know that many people look to the New Year as the perfect time to make changes to their health and fitness, but it can be difficult to make big changes without the right support. Our Pounds for Pounds programme, which is now in its eighth year, provides a supportive group setting, as well as ongoing advice and information from experts such as our nutritionist, Linda Munster, and our PT, Sam.

As well as losing weight, we also recognise the importance of improving fitness and our relationship with food. For this year’s programme, we will include a focus on mental health, and the mindset of staying healthy and losing weight, as well as helping participants reach their individual goals and aims. Pounds for Pounds offers the tools and support to enable people to make lifestyle changes which will continue to provide positive benefits after the completion of the programme itself.

Participants will still receive the same level of support as previous years, with a free gym membership, PT sessions and consultations with a nutritionist. We also acknowledge that many people have felt isolated throughout this year, and we feel that being part of a programme and group such as this one, will help people to feel more connected, with a sense of belonging once again.

This year’s Pounds for Pounds is a 10-week programme and participants are asked to raise £400 in sponsorship. Those taking part will receive information and ideas on how to fundraise, and our Fundraising team will be there to support throughout.”
