Day of Reflection: Looking back at a difficult year

As we all come together on this day of remembrance to commemorate the lives lost during the past year, our CEO, Jackie Tritton, shares her reflections.

“As a Hospice, we have been on the frontline and seen first hand the devastating impact that Covid-19 has had on our community, our patients, their families, and our colleagues. The impact of this past year’s tragic loss of life will continue to have significant impact across the world for years to come, and on some families forever. The lives lost, inside and outside Peace Hospice Care, and the sacrifice of those who have been unable to say goodbye to their loved ones, will never be forgotten.

I continue to be very proud of the incredible commitment of our Clinical teams who have been working tirelessly throughout the pandemic, in difficult circumstances, to continue providing vital care to our community. The dedication and compassion that they display on a daily basis never ceases to amaze me and the work that they do is so important for patients, and their families, in our local community.

As we reflect on an incredibly tough year, and stop to think about the unprecedented loss we have seen, we also look forward with hope. As an organisation, we have adapted to the many challenges that we have faced throughout the past year and learned to work in new ways. This year we mark our 30th anniversary year, and, thanks to careful planning and the ongoing support of all of our staff, Trustees, volunteers and supporters, we are able to continue looking forward as an organisation with positivity for the future as we mark this significant milestone in our history.”
