Board Members Required

We provide specialist support for individuals and their families and carers facing a life-limiting illness across the Hertfordshire community. Our role in the community is to deliver the best care we can and be that essential support when needed.

We deliver a Hospice at Home service, which takes hospice care to patients living in their own homes. We also offer high quality care in our Inpatient Unit, and wellbeing support, clinics, rehabilitation, counselling and bereavement support in the Starlight Centre. Alongside these services we run a volunteering befriending service for patients needing that extra bit of help at home.

We are looking for new Board members; to join our already experienced Board of Trustees:

·Are you interested in working with a dynamic and supportive Board of Trustees and Executive Team?

·Can you contribute to an energetic charity and help us implement our vision and Strategic Plan?

·Do you have strategic management skills with specialist knowledge in one of the areas listed below?

We are primarily, although not exclusively, interested in candidates who live in our catchment area of Hertfordshire, who understand the communities we serve and who can demonstrate skills, experience or knowledge relating to one or more of the following areas:

·Clinical or Health and Social Care

·Communication and Marketing



·Human Resources

·Income Generation

We are particularly keen to attract candidates from our local ethnic minority communities.

Joining our Board will offer you an exciting opportunity to share your skills and make an important contribution to our strategic direction and continuous improvement. Key to this will be a clear demonstration of enthusiasm to embrace our mission to develop and grow a community-based first class service that our patients, individuals, staff, volunteers, supporters and customers are proud of.

You will need to demonstrate commitment to a high level of engagement, equality and diversity, teamwork, championing issues/services, accountability and outcomes-based service provision. Whilst these are voluntary roles, expenses will be paid for. Membership will require at least 40 hours per annum of your time and attendance at an annual Away Day and other social and celebration events.
