Senior Head of Patient Services- IPU & Patient Services Governance

We are looking for an exceptional Senior Palliative Care Clinician/Health Care Service Lead/Manager with excellent leadership skills, who has experience of working in a bed based Inpatient Unit with a strong clinical governance background. This role will work closely with our Senior Head of Patient Services – Community and Outpatients Services. Peace Hospice Care vision is to be the leading provider for Specialist Palliative and End of Life Care across South West Hertfordshire. To support this vision, we have recently developed a 5-year clinical strategy with the aim to reach more people, whilst providing high quality care closer to home; actively responding to opportunities to work, share and learn from each other and managing our charity efficiently and effectively. Peace Hospice Care is based in Watford and covers a locality population of 320,000.

This post attracts a £2,000 joining incentive, paid in your first salary, and a further £2,000 after a successful probation period (usually 6 months).

In this senior role you will be responsible for the overall efficiency and effective operational management of the IPU ensuring our 24-hour service is able to meet our Palliative/End of Life patient and their families changing demands, as well as ensuring safe staffing and clinical standards are maintained. Additionally, you will lead on governance across our clinical services, working closely with the Head of Quality to ensure effective integration of the Governance Framework across the Patient Services Directorate.

You will be a core member of the integrated Senior Clinical Management Team, and will be required demonstrate strong leadership abilities to proactively deliver the clinical services and wider organisational strategic objectives.

You will also be responsible for coordination of the multi-disciplinary team and the implementation of new service developments and initiatives, ensuring the best use of resources.

Your outstanding character must align with our organisational values and you will be required to demonstrate that you are passionate about making a difference and will be an advocate for our patients, families and the population we serve.

In 2016, our CQC rating was ‘Outstanding’ for care with an overall ‘Good’. We would expect you to have experience of leading a team that demonstrate Effective, Responsive, Safe, Caring, Well – led and evidence-based care.
