Do you want to work with a great retail team which helps the local community? We have vacancies for target-driven Retail Managers to manage a shop, working closely with a Senior Retail Manager and our Volunteers.

To succeed in the role, you will need to…
be a great communicator – to build relationships with customers and with your team of volunteers – displaying the values of the Hospice
have a good grasp of retail – target driven with a good understanding of the factors that drive shop income
be great with systems and processes – with a firm grasp of financial procedures and how to run a successful shop
enjoy working in a shop environment – where you can show creativity and people skills

Job summary

• To manage all day-to-day charity shop activities to ensure the smooth and successful running of the shop in line with Key Performance Indicators and strategy set by Senior Retail Manager (55%)
• To train and motivate volunteers and, with the Senior Retail Manager, ensure sufficient staff for the shop to operate over 6 days (35%)
• To carry out all day-to-day administrative functions in the shop, liaising with the Senior Retail Manager and Head Office where necessary (10%)

Peace Hospice Care (PHC) has been supporting people with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, from across the community for 25 years. Awarded ‘Outstanding’ for being caring by the Care Quality Commission in 2016, and ‘Good’ overall, we are an award-winning charity dedicated to supporting and empowering patients and their families.

Based in Watford, within a 5-minute walking distance of Watford High Street and Intu Shopping Centre, we cover 36 GP practices which serve a population of 320,000. Our three core clinical services are: Inpatient Unit, Starlight Outpatient Services and our Community Services. We also host the West Herts Palliative Referral Centre. In 2017 our Inpatient Unit was refurbished. We have 12 specialist palliative and end of life short stay beds which operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week with the support of a multi-disciplinary team.

Our vision is to be the leading provider for specialist palliative and end of life care across South West Hertfordshire and the wider area. To support this vision, we have recently developed a five-year clinical strategy with the aim of reaching more people, and bringing high quality care closer to home.
