Inpatient Unit Sister/Charge Nurse

We are recruiting a forward-thinking senior nurse who has experience of working in a bed-based unit and/or managing a clinical caseload to lead our Inpatient Unit (IPU) nursing team.

As Sister/ Charge Nurse, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the day to day running of the IPU and ensuring the 24 hours/ 7 day service is able to meet our palliative/ end of life patients and their families changing demands.

You will work alongside your Sister/Charge Nurse colleague and be supported by the IPU Manager.

You will be responsible for line managing a dedicated and passionate team of Staff Nurses and Healthcare Assistants who work within a wider IPU multi-disciplinary team of staff and volunteers, and ensure the highest quality of safe patient-centred care is delivered.

Working within the management team, you will be responsible for implementation of new service developments, initiatives, and ensure the best use of resources.

You will have:

  • An in-depth understanding of, and experience of working within, Palliative care or working with patients with long term conditions.
  • Experience of managing or co-ordinating the work of a multidisciplinary
    team.
  • A strong commitment to excellent standards of professional practice.

In 2016 our CQC rating was outstanding for care with an overall good. We would expect you to have experience of leading a team so they can demonstrate Effective, Responsive, Safe, Patient-centred, evidence-based care.  In 2017 our 12 bedded short stay IPU underwent a complete refurbishment with an upgrade of the individual ensuite bedrooms, creation of an open family/ carers lounge kitchen area and redesign of the clinical space.
