Record numbers joined Peace Hospice Care's sold out Watford Colour Run on Sunday 22nd May at Aldenham Country Park, Borehamwood.

The event saw 1,100 participants get colourful for the Hospice raising over £20,000 so far with money still rolling in!

The day was full of fun and festivities with people from across Hertfordshire and London showing their support for Peace Hospice Care.

Sarah Binge, from Stevenage, took part in the event with her family as 'Team Fowler'. Sarah said: "We were running in memory of our dad/grandad, John Fowler, who died 5 years ago today, from brain cancer. We received invaluable help from the Hospice at Home team and the Watford Colour Run was a perfect way to include all the family and our friends and give a little back."

Declan Carroll, Chief Executive Officer at Peace Hospice Care from Palmers Green, ran the fun run with his team 'Dancing Delight'. Declan said: "In the team we had 33 participants, including children and parents from London, Cambridge, Bedfordshire and Nottingham, so the Watford Colour Run was a great way for us to all get together. It was great to see that so many people of all ages came to the fun run; it was truly a family event. My favourite part was the countdown; when it got to 1 there was an eruption of cheers and colour!"

Pete Watson, Events and Community Fundraising Manager, said: "We're thrilled that so many people came to show their support for us. The day went even better than we could have imagined! We'd like to say a big thank you to the runners, staff, volunteers and everyone else involved.

Pete continued: "The money that we raise at our events really helps us to continue delivering our specialist services, through our Inpatient Unit, Starlight Centre and Hospice at Home Service, to individuals and their families facing a life-limiting illness. We've got more events coming up this year including our Anniversary Abseil, Starlight Walk and Push It for the Peace; it would be great if we could have this kind of success at those events too."
