A family of a patient in Peace Hospice Care's Inpatient Unit was able to meet, Tracy Beaker actress and Strictly Come Dancing contestant, Dani Harmer, at Watford Colosseum on Friday 15th April.
Thanks to the generosity of Watford Colosseum, the cast and crew of Enchanted Entertainment and Peace Hospice Care, Barbra Lees, from Watford, and her son Daniel, enjoyed the afternoon watching Dani Harmer perform as Dorothy in the 'Wizard of Oz'.
Mrs Lees said: "We all really enjoyed the show, it's the first time I've been to Watford Colosseum and it's been lovely. I'll definitely come again! I'm really grateful to Peace Hospice Care and Watford Colosseum for giving me and my family tickets to see the show."
Mrs Lees added: "My Dad is currently in the Inpatient Unit in Peace Hospice Care and it was only when he went into the IPU that I found out about the Hospice. It's a very nice place, all the staff are friendly and the nurses are brilliant. I'd definitely urge others to support the Hospice and the work they do. I'm definitely going to sign up to their final Starlight Walk and I'd encourage others to get involved too."
On the 9th July, Peace Hospice Care will be holding their 10th and final Starlight Walk alongside the Spiceworld exhibition, which will be hosted by Watford Colosseum. Pete Watson, Events and Community Fundraising Manager at Peace Hospice Care, said: "We're very grateful to our neighbours, Watford Colosseum, for allowing us to create a special memory for Barbra Lees and her family. At Peace Hospice Care we aim to provide support not only for our individual patients, but also their loved ones, as a life-limiting illness impacts an entire family."
Pete Watson continued: "The Spiceworld exhibition is about celebrating the girl power that was embodied by the Spice Girls. This type of girl power has also driven our ladies only Starlight Walk for the last 9 years, raising £1.4 million for the Hospice so far. We're hoping this year, to celebrate the final Starlight Walk, the women of Watford will unite once again to raise £100,000 this year, which will bring our Starlight Walk total to £1.5 million."
Richard Loftus, Marketing & Sales Manager said: "Watford Colosseum are always thrilled to work with their neighbours on a variety of projects which raise awareness for the local charity. Dani Harmer and Enchanted Entertainment's production of The Wizard of Oz were only too happy to meet Barbra Lees and her family after the matinee performance of the show. Later this year, we'll be the start and finish line for the Starlight Walk which takes place at the same time as Spiceword: The Exhibition. I'm sure there will be many more opportunities to work together before the year is out!"
