Pulling on their trainers and purple t-shirts, Sarah Thompson and Abby McCarthy from Peace Hospice Care are getting ready for the Ricky Road Run on Sunday October 26.

Sarah, a physiotherapist at the Hospice, and Abby, the Starlight Centre Rehabilitation and Wellbeing Co-ordinator,  are amongst the 200 runners who have signed up for this popular annual event.

They aim to raise as much money for the Hospice and attract sponsorship from friends, family and the community.

'We are running 10 miles for Peace Hospice Care because we want to raise money for this amazing charity,' said Sarah.  'We have signed up now and there is no turning back! I am starting my training to get fit for the ten miles.'

The Ricky Road Run is a popular event founded in 1984 that has raised more than £320,000 for many other local charities including the Hospice.

This year the event has chosen Peace Hospice Care as one of the charities it is supporting.

There is still time to sign up, train and raise funds for your local Hospice. www.rickyroadrun.co.uk

Marshalls and volunteer staff are also required to help make the event another huge success.
