A signed England football shirt raised £650 for Peace Hospice Care thanks to staff at The Grove.

The Grove, the renowned five-star resort in Hertfordshire, often host the England Football Team and  recently received a signed shirt prior to the squad's departure to Brazil for the World Cup.

General Manager, Jonathan Critchard commented, 'It was an unexpected gift from The FA, which was given as a token of thanks to our team at The Grove for all their efforts following their recent stay with us. We decided that rather than displaying the shirt somewhere internally at The Grove or choosing a single individual to give it to, we wanted to see if we could raise some money for a worthy cause and offer any member of The Grove's team a chance to win the shirt.'

'Through a kind gesture from Signature Auctions we were able to have the shirt framed alongside the England team's official photograph, taken in The Grove's Formal Gardens.'

The lucky winner was Nikki Mahoney, Spa Treatments Manager, who was both surprised and delighted.

'I was completely shocked when I was told I had won. I think I'll be giving it to my godson. He is eight years old and has recently been unwell, so he will be absolutely thrilled to receive it. He's a massive football fan.'

The Grove presented a cheque for £650 to  Peace Hospice Care's Director of Fundraising, Ropinder Gill, who added, 'We rely heavily on contributions from the local community to help us provide the range of services we do.'

'We are incredibly grateful for this recent donation from The Grove, who have been a highly valued supporter of the hospice and the work we do for many years now.'
