Peace Hospice Care supporter Claire Wilson is urging the community to sign up for a sizzling experience in the 'Blaze' challenge on Sunday September 14 at Elm Court Youth and Community Centre in Potters Bar.

Claire, who completed a Fire Walk last year after her mother was cared for in the Inpatient Unit, is keen that others experience the incredible sense of achievement gained from walking over red hot coals and raising money for the Hospice.

'The Hospice looked after my mum. I wanted to thank the Hospice for their care and support and did the Fire Walk last year as it was so out of the ordinary.'

'My fiance Chris and our little brothers joined in and we received a lot of sponsorship. We wanted to raise as much money as possible to say thank you.'

Claire describes the Fire Walk as inspirational and remembers the night as being a great occasion shared with other Fire Walkers.

'Our trainer Karen made sure we were all in the right frame of mind.  The fire was simmering over the coals and after a demonstration we were off. My heart was thumping and I had a big smile on my face as I crossed the hot coals.  I just wanted to do it again.'

'I would recommend it to anyone. It was very well organised, safe and the team were so encouraging.   It does make you feel you can do anything.'
