The Ukulele Sunshine Band strummed up smiles in the Starlight Lounge yesterday when they entertained patients, staff, volunteers and visitors.

Their fabulous repertoire of well known songs proved to be a popular addition to the afternoon and was welcomed with ample applause from the audience.

Organised by Senior Healthcare Assistant, Rose Tallon, the band members enjoyed the opportunity to strum and sing. Following their performance they presented a cheque for £30.00 to Peace Hospice Care and tucked into tea, cake and cheery compliments.

'We do get a great deal of satisfaction from playing ukulele and entertaining in the community,' explained band member Jim Connor.

For Brian Widdowson, a Day Care patient, the singing and strumming was a beneficial boost to his well-being.

'I was recording the music to share with my wife later,' said Brian.  'She loves ukulele. I do too. It really was so good to sit back and hear the songs and join in.  Really great.'
