Peace Hospice Care were the recent beneficiaries of a £1,000 donation following a wager between two local councillors.
Previous Chairman of Three Rivers District Council, Watley-Smith won the wager from friend and fellow councillor Tony Barton on differing opinions they held over the William Penn Leisure Centre rebuild.
Councillor Tony Barton said 'I was obviously disappointed to lose the bet but pleased that such a deserving charity has benefited. I never like losing a wager but in this instance losing £1,000 was a bit easier to take knowing that it was going to Peace Hospice Care.'
Chairman of Three Rivers Council, Les Mead who received the cheque from councillor Barton commented on his blog 'he lost and graciously paid up'.
