Inpatient Unit (IPU) Advanced Nurse Practitioner
37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE).
Peace Way Band H or a one year developing role at Band G.
We are looking for an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner who is organised, committed and keen to work as part of a small and highly focused multi-disciplinary team.
You will be responsible for the clinical leadership of our designated palliative/end of life beds in our 12-bed Inpatient Unit, based in Watford and, in particular:
· work as a clinically independent and autonomous practitioner
· lead autonomously on nurse-led admissions and discharges to ensure a responsive and co-ordinated approach to delivering the most effective and safe use of our Inpatient Unit beds
· utilise both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions and onward referrals
· act as a source of expertise and knowledge for palliative/end of life care patients, their carers and their families, referring professionals and colleagues
· carry out holistic patient assessments and implement and evaluate the best course of action
In this role, you will be expected to demonstrate advanced communication and psychological skills to support problem solving and decision making at the highest level.
You will play a key role working in our Inpatient multi-disciplinary team, helping us to deliver the highest quality of personalised holistic palliative and end of life care.
You should be able to demonstrate how your values align with our own organisational values and your desire to make a difference and be an advocate for our patients, families and the population we serve. We would expect you to have experience of leading a team and being able to demonstrate, and support colleagues in delivering effective, responsive, safe, patient-centred, evidence-based care.

Our Inpatient Unit (refurbished in 2017) has 12 specialist palliative and end of life short stay beds which operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week with the support of a multi-disciplinary team.

To support this vision we have recently developed a five year clinical strategy with the aim of reaching more people, and bringing high quality care closer to home. post holder will be required to work autonomously within the Inpatient Unit
five days a week. Occasional rotation
between shifts and our services may be required, therefore, flexibility to
maintain patient safety is a must.
